Conway, Ark. – The SBU women's soccer team continued their unbeaten start to the 2026 season Tuesday evening, defeating Hendrix College 3-0 at Warrior Soccer Field. The victory moves the Bearcats to 2-0-1 on the season.
SBU controlled the attack early and broke through in the 17th minute when Juana Fernandez Calvo found the back of the net off an assist from Jade Johnson. The goal was Fernandez Calvo's second of the season. Just over four minutes later, Elli Steel doubled the Bearcat advantage with her second goal of the year, sending SBU into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
The Bearcats added to their advantage in the 63rd minute as Emma Meier scored the first of her career to push the lead to 3-0. SBU's defense took care of the rest, limiting Hendrix to just four shots and two shots on goal throughout the match.
SBU finished the night with a 16-4 advantage in shots, putting nine attempts on goal compared to just two for the Warriors. Fernandez Calvo led the Bearcat attack with three shots on goal, while Addi Shuler had a team-high four shots. Cece Alexander made two saves across 77 minutes in goal before Awbree Berning closed out the shutout. The clean sheet marked SBU's second shutout through the first three matches of the season.
The Bearcats will now return home for the first time this season as they open GLVC action by welcoming University of Missouri-St. Louis to the SBU Soccer Field on Saturday, September 5th. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30a.m.
