Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the 2026 season Saturday morning, falling to the University of Missouri-St. Louis 4-1 at the SBU Soccer Field. The loss moves the Bearcats to 2-1-1 overall and 0-1 in GLVC play.
The Tritons jumped out to an early advantage with goals in the sixth and 12th minutes to take a 2-0 lead. SBU responded in the 23rd minute as Lydia Fickle found the back of the net for her second goal of the season. Juana Fernandez Calvo picked up the assist, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
UMSL answered before the break, scoring in the 32nd minute to take a 3-1 advantage into halftime. The Tritons added their final goal in the 66th minute to secure the 4-1 victory. SBU goalkeeper Cece Alexander made five saves across the 90 minutes.
SBU will look to bounce back Wednesday, September 9th, as they remain at home to take on Pittsburg State University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the SBU Soccer Field.
