Bearcat Golf Returns to Competition for First Time Since 2019

Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist University Men's Golf is back. After the program was discontinued following the 2019 season, the Bearcats are set to return to competition under veteran head coach Lee Manly.

Manly begins the new chapter of SBU Men's Golf with a roster of 11 golfers from around the world who are ready to represent the Bearcats on the course.

"I am excited to get this season going and for the boys to compete in some tournaments," Manly said. The Bearcats will compete in their first tournament Sept. 8-9 in Madison, Illinois at the Gateway National Golf Links. The opening tournament will mark an important milestone for the program as SBU begins building its foundation in its first season back.

As the Bearcats have prepared for competition through practices and qualifying rounds, a couple of golfers have already stood out to Manly. "Some key players to look out for are Will Porter from Monroe, La., and Kloden Brown from Perth, Australia," Manly said. "They have been playing really well in our practices and qualifying rounds."

Porter and Brown are just two members of a talented group that will have the opportunity to establish a new era of SBU Men's Golf. With an entirely new roster and coaching staff, the Bearcats will look to build momentum throughout their first season back on the course.
