Keeley Elsea Sets Six Singles Season Records in Final Weekend

5/3/2026 8:18:00 PM

Rolla, Mo. – The SBU softball team concluded their 2026 season Saturday and Sunday on the road. They dropped four games over the course of the weekend falling to Drury on Saturday and Missouri S&T on Sunday. They now end the season at 19-35 (8-20 GLVC) on the season.

Southwest Baptist fell in two close games to Drury on Saturday 3-4, 4-5. SBU led at some point in both games but the Drury would find the final run late in both games. On Sunday, the Bearcats fell to the Missouri S&T Miners 0-10, 9-11 ending their season. SBU led 9-5 in game two off a Jacie Frencken grand slam, before the Miners came storming back.

The weekend was a special one for one specific Bearcat in sophomore Keeley Elsea. Her numbers of eight hits, four runs, and two RBI's speaks for itself, but those numbers had a bigger meaning. As just a sophomore, Elsea broke six SBU single seasons records, five of those being this weekend. As well she tied the SBU career record in walks at 72. The single season records are the following:

Batting average - .486
On-Base Percentage - .607
Slugging Percentage - . .774
Hits – 71
Total bases – 113
Walks - 47

Records were not only broken by an individual but also as a team. SBU softball set new team highs in runs (237), walks (169), and stolen bases (85).
