SBU Track & Field Ends Record Breaking Season With Two All-American Awards

5/24/2026 12:09:00 AM

Emporia, Kan. – The SBU track and field team finished their 2026 outdoor season at the National Championship Saturday afternoon. With a record breaking 10 Bearcats competing in this meet, SBU ended their season with two All-American awards both on Saturday.

The day started with the two javelin throwers in Savannah Manthey and Alexis Turner. Manthey repeated her All-American award from last year with a 5th place finish at this Championship. This is her second straight 5th place at the NCAA Championship. Her teammate and freshman, Alexis Turner, competed in her first National Championship taking 21st place.

A little later in the day, Stephanique Dean, completed her incredible 2026 campaign in the 200-meter finals. She took 5th place in the event with a time of 23.69 earning herself her first outdoor NCAA All-American award. She closes out her season with multiple SBU records, a GLVC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year Award, and an NCAA Indoor All-American honor.

It was an exciting Championship all around as the three mentioned above joined Angel Dickerson, Marcus Jones, Gavin Duchscherer, Olivia Littleton, Laura Dixon, Brianna Lord, and Madison Davis as the most Bearcats to attend a single NCAA Championship. As well, this years' team added another record with the most All-Region awards in a single season.
