Bolivar, Mo. – SBU women's track and field continued the GLVC Championships for the second of three days at Plaster Stadium Friday. The Bearcats continued to hit some strong marks finishing the day with 25 points currently in 4^th in place.
 
The day belonged to sophomore Kelsey Rhoades as she threw and ran her way to a crown in the heptathlon. Entering the day third place in points, she took first in the javelin and second in the 800-meter run finishing with 4741 points. Not only did that give her team 10 points to their total but set a new school record and hit a National qualifying mark. The strong performances didn't stop there for her as she later qualified for the finals in the 400-meter hurdles, in which she will compete on Saturday.
 
More points were gained for Southwest Baptist as freshman Gracie Troester competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the first time in her career. She didn't just compete in it but excelled beyond measure taking 4^th place in the event earning another five towards SBU total. Senior Emily Young added three more points in the pole vault with a 6^th place finish.
 
Many other Bearcats began their Championships competing in the preliminary races on the track. Stephanique Dean and Laura Dixon qualified for the finals in both the 100-meter and 200-meter. Madison Davis had a career day hitting three personal records and qualifying for the finals in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Emily Young added to her 6^th place finish in the pole vault advancing to the finals in the 800-meter run, the same event she won at the indoor Championships.
 
SBU will return to action on Saturday with field events starting at 9:00 a.m. and track events beginning at 11:00 a.m.
