Bolivar, MO – To conclude the 2026 regular season, the Southwest Baptist University women's tennis team hosted Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) rival Drury University on the sunny afternoon of Saturday, April 25th. The Bearcats fell to the Drury Panthers 2-5 moving their season record to 4-12 and 3-2 in the GLVC.
At the #1 doubles spot, the duo of
Maria Clara Zotti and
Defne Ursan won the first point of the day with a comfortable score of 6-3.
Ursan and
Clara Zotti went on to win a single point each at the #2 and #3 spot.
Ursan swept her opponent with a score of 6-1, 6-1.
Clara Zotti emerged victorious after a hard fought battle (7-6, 6-4).
Despite the loss to the Panthers, SBU women's tennis did enough work early in the season to qualify for the GLVC Championship Tournament. The Bearcats will be the #3 see out of the West Division likely to play University of Indianapolis in the first round to take place on Friday, May 1st in Indianapolis, Indiana.
