Virginia Beach, Va. – SBU track and field concluded their indoor season Friday and Saturday at the NCAA Division II National Championships. Three Bearcat student-athletes got to compete at this years' Championships in four different events.

Senior Stephanique Dean highlighted the event claiming the only podium and All-American finish of the weekend. She got to compete in the 400m and 200m dash. On Friday, Dean cruised through the 200m dash preliminaries with the third best time to the finals on Saturday. There she finished in 3rd place with a time of 23.61 seconds for a bronze medal. This is her best finish at a National Championship, improving four spots from her 7th place finish at last year's indoor Championships. Dean was unable to qualify for the finals in the 400m dash after a DQ.

Junior Angel Dickerson appeared in his first National Championship competing in the long jump. He finished in 16th place jumping a distance of 7.00 meters. This concluded an incredible start to his Bearcat career after breaking the SBU long jump record earlier in the year.

Sophomore Marcus Jones qualified for his first National Championship this season after setting numerous SBU and GLVC records. In this Championship, he competed in the 200-meter dash finishing in 13th place with a time of 21.43 seconds.

Now that indoor season has concluded Dean, Dickerson, Jones, and the rest of the Bearcats will begin outdoor season. Most of the team will begin at the Miner Invite on March 20th and 21st in Rolla, Missouri. The weekend after that will be the SBU home meet in Bolivar.
