Rolla, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University (SBU) men's basketball team played the Miners of Missouri S&T, falling 75-84 on the road. The loss moves the Bearcats to 12-14 on the season and 6-12 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
SBU enjoyed a dominant first half against the Miners, holding the lead from the 16:20 mark to the 1:22 mark. The Bearcats also drained all 10 of their free throws for a perfect performance from the charity stripe. Despite these bright spots, the team in purple could not hold on to the lead, allowing Missouri S&T to take the victory.
Leading the team in rebounding and providing an offensively solid performance was senior
Luke Ogle who recorded 16 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Ogle also shot an impressive 4-7 from beyond the three-point line. The Bearcat scoring leader, however, was freshman
Leo Gayman with 19 points and seven rebounds. The freshman put in a stellar defensive contribution as well, adding five steals and two blocks to his stat line.
SBU will return for their final week of action on Thursday, February 26 at 7:30 p.m. The game will feature a matchup between the Bearcats and the Maryville University Saints from the Meyer Sports Center.
