Romeoville, Mo. – The SBU men's track and field team had a spectacular day two of the GLVC Championships acquiring three podium finishes. They finish the day tied for 3
rd place with 35 points.
The first bronze medal of the day came in the decathlon as
Andrew Rhoades battled his way back to finish with 6346 points. He started the day with a 4
th place finish in the 100-hurdles followed by a 2
nd in pole vault and 3
rd in javelin. Rhoades came in clutch in the final event of the decathlon winning the 1500-meter run claiming 3
rd overall.
Sophomore thrower
Jayce Farrell had himself a fun day capturing his best finish in his career taking 2
nd in the discus. He broke his own school record in his second throw of the day, then later broke the record once again with a 53.45-meter throw. Another third-place finish on the day came from freshman
Ellis Joslin. He cleared a mark of 4.67-meters in the pole vault for his first career GLVC podium finish.
Four Bearcats qualified for final races on the day, beginning with
Parker Love taking 2
nd in the 100-meter dash. The reigning champion of the event will look to take the title Saturday afternoon. In the same event, freshman
Dalvin Adams was only .15 seconds behind his teammate in 5
th place.
Love also qualified for the finals in the 200-meter dash, also in 2
nd place. This time he was joined by two teammates in
Reid Harrison (8
th) and
Dalvin Adams (9
th). With one full lap around the track,
Marcus Jones punched his ticket to the finals with a 4
th place finish in the 200-meter. It took
Devon McMillin two laps for his Saturday heat as he placed 8
th in the 800-meter.
More points from the Bearcats came in the last event of the day as
Nolan Hansen finished in 4
th place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The team will return to action on Saturday beginning at 9am.
