Bolivar, Mo. — Southwest Baptist University's Men's Basketball returned back to their home court to take on the Calvary College Warriors for the first time in program history, Monday evening. The Bearcats displayed an impressive outing, out scoring the Warriors 49 to 24 in the first half, and finishing the game 88-43.
SBU controlled the game with only a three-minute span at the start where the Bearcats didn't hold the lead. The remaining 33 minutes was all Bearcat dominance. Overall, SBU was very efficient throughout the first half, shooting 60% from the field and a whopping 50% from beyond the arc. This was highlighted through senior
Luke Ogle who made every single shot he took, for a total of nine points. The team also displayed a defensive masterclass having 34 defensive rebounds, seven blocks, 13 steals, and causing 16 turnovers. The team garnered 28 points from these turnovers alone.
The team was led by standout junior
Zac Reedus who had a SBU career high 19 points continuing his five-game streak of 10+ points. He was joined in the 10+ points category by players
Brandon Moore,
Barron Silsby, and
Tyler Franklin each with 16,14, and 11 respectively. Reedus also marked down six rebounds, second only to redshirt junior
Jevin Sullivan with nine. In fact, the team had an impressive showing with 12 of 13 players recording rebounds
This victory leaves the Bearcats at a 3-2 record. The team will travel to Lincoln University of Missouri this upcoming Saturday November 29th to begin conference action against the reigning GLVC champions.
