Bolivar, Mo. – Thursday evening SBU basketball hosted their annual Trunk or Treat with the Bearcats event. This was held in the Meyer Sports Center from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. which hosted nearly 200 kids from the community.
"Obviously it was a lot of fun, good to have a lot of community support, a lot of kids come out, we had almost 200 kids show up" Head men's basketball coach
Aaron Niven said, "It was fun to let our kids interact with the community kids and have a lot of fun and provide a safe and fun experience for local kids."
Though it was hosted by basketball, many other Bearcat sports teams joined the event including softball, women's volleyball, men's soccer, beach volleyball, and men's and women's tennis. They hosted stations ranging from soccer, to face paint, to bottle flipping, and even musical chairs. This being the first year with multiple SBU teams helping host, Coach Niven saw the success and envisions this becoming even bigger.
"We obviously would like to build and grow it, I would like for more of our teams to be able to participate and maybe have to move it to the IM gym, because it gets big enough that we have enough people that want to come and be a part of it. We just keep growing it and more and more kids showing up, we can provide a good experience for them."
