Four Bearcats Qualify for Indoor Track and Field National Championships

Bolivar, Mo. – The NCAA Division II Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2024 Indoor Track and Field Championships. Four total Bearcats were selected to participate at the Championships in two events (200-meter dash & 4x400-meter relay).
 
Junior Collinique Farrington is competing in both events as she is coming off an incredible conference championship, where she earned GLVC track athlete of the year. She will begin by competing in the 200-meter dash, where she has a real shot of winning. Farrington's best time of 23.40 seconds is ranked 3rd in the Nation and only .08 seconds behind the top time. She has had incredible season so far winning three golds at the GLVC championships, breaking three GLVC records, and winning three GLVC Athlete of the week awards.
 
The women's 4x400 meter relay qualified for the National championships for the first time since 2017. In that same year, the Bearcats also had a National champion in Natalie O'Keefe winning the high jump, coincidence? This years' team is comprised of Brianna Lord, Madison Hicks, Laura Dixon, and Farrington. Their best time of the season came in at 3:43.85 at the Bearcat Invite on February 1st. Despite running four seconds slower at the GLVC championships, the the women's 4x400 still claimed gold beating out 2nd place by over four seconds. This relay heads into Nationals ranked 7th out of 13 teams.
 
Nationals will take place on March 8th and 9th in Pittsburg, Kansas at the Robert W. Plaster Center. The preliminaries for the 200-meter dash is on Friday, March 8th at 5:35pm while the finals for the 4x400 meter is on Saturday, March 9th at 8:00pm.
