New Orleans, La. – Five Bearcat Cross Country athletes earned All-Academic distinction as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Thursday. In order to qualify for this award, the student athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective region.
The five SBU student-athletes to earn this award were seniors
Alexis Barber,
Tessa Valdivia, and
Lainy Williams. Along with junior
Olivia Littleton and freshman
Kiersten Potter.
As well, both men's and women's programs earned team All-Academic distinction. In order for the teams to qualify for this award, they needed to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet.
