New Orleans, La. - In the most recent USTFCCCA National Poll, the SBU Women's Cross Country team moved up another spot after moving up five spots the week before. Their #6 national ranking is the highest ranking the program has ever received. The team was ranked #6 in week 7 of the 2015 season when the team won the conference championship, regional championship, and coach McElhaney was named Central Region Coach of the Year. This season, the team has been off to a hot start, winning the Bearcat Invitational and finishing first among NCAA DII teams at the MSSU Stampede. Elysia Burgos has won GLVC Runner of the Week following both performances, and she was named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week on September 13. The regular season concludes on Friday, as the team will compete at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, AR. Following that meet, the GLVC Championships will be on October 23 at Romeoville, IL. NCAA Regionals will take place on November 6 at Evansville, IN and the NCAA Nationals will be held on November 20 in Tampa, FL.
