Indianapolis, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference named Elysia Burgos this week's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. This award marks the program's first, as they had only received Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week and Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards prior to Wednesday. At the PSU Gorilla Classic, Elysia Burgos ran the 800 meters in 2:08.11, which ranked 2nd in the nation at the time. That time qualifies her provisionally for nationals and currently ranks first in the conference and third in the nation. In addition, that time set a new track record at Pittsburg State and broke the SBU record.
