3/26/2013 9:47:00 AM

Bolivar, Mo. - Southwest Baptist University men's head soccer coach Chris Dinwiddie has announced the signing of Justin Schaeffer for the 2013 season.

Justin Schaeffer is a junior midfielder coming to SBU from MCC-Blue River after playing high school soccer for Lee's Summit. Schaeffer earned 1st Team All Conference, All-District and Western Region Honorable Mention his senior season and made the Honor Roll at Lee's Summit High School all four years.  Justin excels not only on the field but also in the classroom.  While attending Junior college he was named to the NSCAA Junior College Scholar All-America honor roll.

At MCC-Blue River, Justin played almost every minute during his two years career with Blue River.  Justin was given the leadership position of captain during his sophomore year.  His leadership qualities were evident through his ability and willingness to switching from midfielder to defender in order to fulfill a need on the field.  Justin helped guide The Trail Blazers to victories over East Central, Jefferson and Crowder, and a close match against Maple Woods in the Region XVI semifinal, with his high level of defending.

"Justin is another of our signees this spring who excel in the classroom," head coach Chris Dinwiddie stated. "Justin is a great addition to the men's soccer team for 2013. He has an established record of being a leader on the field and off. Justin is also very versatile and played a variety of positions at Blue River, so he will give us options at more than one position. I expect him to contribute right away in the fall."
